Random or regular pop up keeps popping up “How do you want to open this type of file (.js)? Keep using microsoft windows based script host” usually when malware has altered your system default script host  (Wscript.exe) settings..

(Wscript.exe is the script running engine, such as java scripts, vb scripts in a web page while  you browse that web page. By default,  java script is downloaded and executed in users pc by Wscript  , more about this (Client-side_scripting wikipedia ) ..

Use Eset online scanner and have a system scan http://www.eset.com/scan

Use Adwcleaner (freeware) and and have a full system scan..http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/adw )

And
Use Kaspersky removal tool and have a full system scan http://www.kaspersky.com/removal

And
Use Trojan remover and have a full system scan http://www.simplysup.com/ (shareware)

open command prompt run as admin

Command prompt run as admin

Run below command in administrative command prompt..

Wscript.exe //H:Wscript

If it is successfully run, you should see this .. “The default script host is now set to “Wscript.exe””
